"I was very disappointed with the service at the visitor’s bureau. The sold us bus tickets to Alberobella and Matera with a 64% mark up over the tour provider’s pricing. Instead of 55 Euros we were charged 90 Euros. We came there right from our train arrival and we expected fair information, but instead of sending us to the tour provider’s website, they wanted to book it for us. When this results in an inflated price, I can only conclude that someone in the Coty of Bari is receiving a kickback. Am I wrong? I came back and protested to the office manager. He was sympathetic and put me in touch with the tourist agency that the tourist office booked through. This agency did nothing. They just rip off tourists by an extraordinary increase in price using city of Bari employees to do the work. As a tourist to Bari how would you feel? I negotiated a partial refund (21 Euros for my wife and I each) because this agency knows it is wrong and does not want to be exposed regarding this dishonest practice. I call upon the City of Bari to clean up this practice because it is having the opposite effect on your reputation that a Visitor’s Office is supposed to have. The agency is at Via Vallisa 81. The Visitor’s office should be selling this UNESCO Tour at the list price of the tour provider’s website which is 55 Euros, not 90 Euro. I await your considered response.
